Temp work

The one birthday gift I got from my family (i.e. wife and children) in 2008 was of little cost, but of great value –
a bath thermometer and a small notebook. From that day, I meticulously jot down the general facts about my every contact with water. It has come to a point where it doesn't constitute a whole experience if I don't, at least, get a reading of the temperature. Although I suspect my thermometer, with its ridiculous golfball-ish floater, doesn't gauge temperature all that well, close is good enough. At least till I get a better one, which shouldn't be too long.

As a result, I bring the thermometer along whenever there's even a remote possibility of using it. I usually keep it in my car, reluctantly the vehicle most likely to take me to water. Whenever possible, cycling, rollerblading or walking are my preferred modes of transport.

Also, salt water is my element. Immersion in anything less than true seawater rarely count.

Square one

My home beach, and in many ways my favorite. Although I no longer live within walking distance from it, it remains close to my heart and one I regularly visit. On this, the Flommen (old Swedish word for marshland) side of the Falsterbo Peninsula, there's a great westward view of the sunset and for the most part, the sand isn't mixed up with rocks or pebbles – no need for tiptoeing or apprehensive running – and it's seldom crowded. There's more to it (I'll likely get to that later), but all in all, it's simply a fantastic beach.
